I liked all of the photos I took of the kids in their 3D glasses, but this is my favorite because it looks like a band photo.
Old MacDonald’s
Weston and I went to McDonald’s — or Old MacDonald’s as he calls it. The Happy Meal comes with a few choices: nuggets, burger, fries…and, if you want the nuggets, there are a bunch of weird sauces you can get with them. I repeat the choices to Weston and realize this is a very important decision for him. As I wait for an answer, I notice he’s thinking so hard, his ears are wiggling. Now, West is really good at wiggling his ears. He usually does it just to appease his parents, but apparently, it’s more than an amusing human trick.
KISS
Julia’s friend had a birthday party and everyone was supposed to dress up like rockstars. The whole idea was inspired by Hannah Montana and Julia is not a fan. So, I suggested we paint her face like the band KISS. She, of course, has no idea who KISS is, but went along with the idea anyway. I asked Julia what her friends thought of her face painting and she said, “Well, the adults all seemed to like it.”
The boys felt left out, so we painted their faces as well. Conrad wanted a blonde beard. We couldn’t talk him out of it.
Punkin
We had the kids draw their own pumpkins and Claire and I carved them (I had to cut outside the lines a little on Weston’s). Then we took photos of each of the kids making the same face as his or her pumpkin.
Learning Karate and Japanese
I have a really funny story to go along with this photo, but I can’t tell you. Sorry.
Family Portrait
Weston drew a portrait of our family.
Left to right: Weston, Conrad (who is smaller than Weston), Claire, Rich, and Julia.
P.S. – Weston, Conrad, and Rich are each wearing a tie.
Pictionary
We’re playing Pictionary. Weston is drawing and I’m guessing. Weston draws the following sketch, puts his pencil down, and says he’s finished.
The word is “bottom.”
Frown Upside Down
Weston loves you
Claire and the kids were hanging out with our neighbors the other day. When it was time to leave, Weston waved and said, “I love you.” When Weston sees kids from the neighborhood across the street, same thing — “I love you.” He gets a great reaction and I wonder what would happen if an adult tried it. Next time I see someone I know, I’m going to wave and yell, “I love you.” …No I’m not.
BOLT in 3D
Despite wind that could have easily picked us up had we not been driving a Suburban, I took the kids to see BOLT — in 3D. The movie was good, but seeing Weston and Julia in their “one-size-fits-all” glasses was priceless. At one of the more climactic moments, the wind knocked out the power. They got the lights on quick enough but were having trouble with the dual projectors or something, so it took a bit before the movie started again. Meanwhile, Julia and Weston caught on to the fact that they were the only ones in the room without a $6 tub of popcorn ($5.75 if you want a small) and $50 drink (OK, I didn’t even look at how much the drinks were). They started to whine a bit, but when the movie started again, it was as though their brains turned off with the lights and they forgot all about it. As a bit of a concession, we stopped at McDonalds afterwards and had some cheap, greasy, delicious fries. That, and a sundae to wash it down, and we were ready to head home for dinner.
